Gas Log Desires

With so many options, which one is right for you?   So, we will review each with pros and cons so you can decide which gas log insert will "Fulfill the Desires of Your Hearth!"

NOTE:  ALL Gas Logs are open flame appliances. Keep in mind that ANY open flame product is considered a decorative appliance. 

Vented Gas Log inserts are a great option if you want an EXCELLENT realistic fire and are going from wood burning fireplace to gas logs because they are beautiful! They put out about the same heat as a wood burning fireplace.

They require a flue/vent. Yes, some of the heat escapes, but so does all the unburnt carbon monoxide!

Vent-Free gas log inserts are used when venting is not an option. While they are great for quickly heating up a room and turning off or for short one to two hour uses. The trade off is in the BETTER look of the fire. Vent-Free or Vent-less Gas Logs do require an open window closest to the fireplace during operation.

Logs are only half of a Gas Logs set/insert!  The other half  is the burner.  Burners are responsible for the flame appearance and operation.  There are three main types of burners. Manuel for manually lit units. Millivolt for use with wall switches and remotes. Electronic Ignition for an upgraded or outdoor use.

Remote Controls are like, "Oh My what do I want it to do for me?"  There are a plethora of remotes from simple; OFF & ON, w/TEMP control, flame height adjustments, on the wall, hand-held and so much more!  but which to choose, which is right for me?

If gas logs are not an option because you live in the burbs of Benton or Haughton, prefer a modern look or ease of installation, then electric logs are your best bet! Today's electric logs have a GOOD looking fire, can put out 5,000-10,000 BTU's of heat and have no impact on your indoor air quality!
