Vented Gas Log inserts are a great option if you want an EXCELLENT realistic fire and are going from wood burning fireplace to gas logs because they are beautiful! They put out about the same heat as a wood burning fireplace.

They require a flue/vent. Yes, some of the heat escapes, but so does all the unburnt carbon monoxide!

Vent-Free gas log inserts are used when venting is not an option. While they are great for quickly heating up a room and turning off or for short one to two hour uses. The trade off is in the BETTER look of the fire. Vent-Free or Vent-less Gas Logs do require an open window closest to the fireplace during operation.

Logs are only half of a Gas Logs set/insert! The other half is the burner. Burners are responsible for the flame appearance and operation. There are three main types of burners. Manuel for manually lit units. Millivolt for use with wall switches and remotes. Electronic Ignition for an upgraded or outdoor use.
